Where does our matcha come from?
Our matcha is sourced exclusively from Japan.
We select only premium ceremonial-grade matcha, ensuring that each batch meets the highest standards of quality and authenticity.
How should I store my matcha?
The best way to store matcha is to keep it away from direct sunlight, heat, humidity, and strong odors. Room temperature is sufficient.
For best results, use a sealed, airtight container.
How long will my matcha be fresh after opening / what is the best before date?
The best-before date for unopened matcha powder is written on the tin can and is around 6 months from the packaging date.
After opening the package, consume the tea soon (within around 1 month) for the freshest flavor and aroma.
Keep in mind that even unopened tea will lose its freshness steadily after the 6 months best-before period.
For freshness, we often recommend opening and consuming one package at-a-time.
Why do I sometimes get clumps of matcha powder?
Clumps can form if matcha isn’t mixed thoroughly. To prevent this, sift the powder before whisking, or whisk vigorously to break up any clumps.
For cold matcha, mix with a small amount of warm liquid before adding cold water.
Can I sweeten matcha or mix it with milk?
Absolutely! You can add a natural sweetener like honey or normal sugar. For matcha lattes, we recommend plant-based milks like oat or almond, as dairy can reduce the absorption of matcha antioxidants.
How much matcha should I drink per day?
We recommend about 6 grams per day, which is roughly two servings. This provides a balanced intake of matcha without overdoing it.
Can I edit or add something to my order?
Once an order is placed, we are unable to make changes to the order. However, if you need to update your shipping address or contact information, please contact our customer service team immediately after placing your order (can only be changed on the day of ordering) before noon.
My order was marked delivered but it’s not here.
If no one was home at the time of delivery, the carrier will leave the package in a safe location. Be sure to check around your home and with neighbors/building management who may have collected the package for you.
Also, please double-check the shipping address of your order to ensure it’s headed to the right location.
On some occasions, packages may be marked as delivered but take additional time to arrive.
If you still are unable to locate the package, please contact our team and we’d be happy to take a further look into this.
What do I do if my item(s) arrives damaged?
We apologize for the damage to your order during shipping. Please contact our team with photos of your damaged item and an unboxing video for further assistance. While we may not be able to guarantee a replacement due to potential stock issues, we will work to resolve the issue as best we can.
What’s difference between kurotake chasen 1.0 and kurotake chasen 2.0?
The difference between these two chasens lies primarily in the shape and thickness of the prongs, which determine their suitability for preparing different types of matcha.
The higher prongs count (kurotake 2.0) has thinner, more flexible prongs, ideal for whisking usucha (thin tea) to a fine foam.
Conversely, the chasen (kurotake 1.0) has thicker, more robust prongs, better suited for stirring koicha (strong tea).
How do I clean my chasen?
To clean a chasen, immediately after use, rinse it under warm running water or gently whisk it in a bowl of warm water to remove matcha residue.
Do not use soap as it can damage the bamboo.
Shake off excess water, then allow the chasen to air-dry completely while standing upright on a whisk stand (kusenaoshi) to maintain its shape.
